FTP an HTML Matthew Henry's Commentary

General Information

All FTP transfers are logged. If you are not comfortable with that, please do not download Bibles or references from our site.

The commentary is marked up with HTML 4.0 constructs. Each Bible chapter's comments will appear on a single line. Currently, the only available copy is a copy as it appears on the site. I haven't developed any localized copies due to the extended scripture links used on the original site's copy.

A local copy can be wonderful. If you are going to open up every file we have and save a local copy anyway, this is a much faster way to do it.

For copyright information about our HTML additions, please see our Copyright statement.

The zip'd files have been compressed by a utility which presumably produces PC compatible files. The gzip'd files require Unix gzip and tar to properly extract. The bzip'd files require bzip2 and tar to properly extract. If you just want to see the format of our source, please use the view source function of your browser on a topic reference or small Bible book like Jude instead of downloading the archives.

Reference Sources (40 MBytes)

The sources in this table are mirrors of the files on our site, and are provided for web designers who will be providing similar scripting features to mine.

Yes, these really are very BIG files, even with the KJV stripped out! For best luck download late at night when our traffic is lighter. If you don't have a fast or reliable connection I suggest you use FTP with a client that can automatically resume broken transfers. If you use HTTP and your browser shows you are transferring data, please don't stop and restart. If you get a network error, give the rest of the world a break and try again a few hours later. We've still shipped the full 13 MBytes out to our ISP and the internet.
