1:2a rebelled: Often 'transgressed,' as ch. 66:24: but has the force of 'rebellion.' It is transgression against authority to which one is rightfully subject. See 1Kings 12:19.

1:4c nation: Goi: the nations in contrast with God's people, used of Israel when disowned, as Ps. 43:1.
