Each reference source is formatted with one topic per line, so any match in any part of a topic will retrieve the entire topic. This permits HTML links to be retreived intact by the search engine and permits scripture references directly from the results page.
If you are searching for commonly used words, we strongly recommend that you don't check the view box. The search results will give the file the match was found in along with a link to and approximate size of the topic in which the match was found. You can then narrow your search yourself without having to wait for a potentially very large file download with the complete text of every topic or Bible definition containing the selected word. Most topics are in the 5 to 10 kByte range. However, be aware that topics such as God or Jesus are in the 200 kByte range, so when searching for words or phrases likely to be used in these topics it is especially good to preview the results yourself.
There are default limits to the number of topics per file (25) and total number of files (50) if using this form. If you get a message in the search results that files or lines were exceeded, the detailed search form can provide options to increase these limits.
