On-Line Reference Collection Notes

Dictionaries and Topical Reference materials provide an alphabetical index, with topic titles sorted alphabetically by the most important word in the topic into up to 26 pages. Each alphabetic letter page then provides direct access to the topic of interest. Note that even though the original source files are quite large, only the desired topic is delivered when accessed in this fashion. Each letter page has a line at the top and bottom of the page allowing direct access to the top page and to the other letter pages.

Each topic displayed provides direct links to the scriptures about the topic as well as to all top level indices for fast topical analysis.

When a scripture link is activated, the verse is displayed in the selected Bible. Note that some Bibles do not have an exact verse correlation to the KJV which most references were based on which may cause some references to not appear to be correct. Please check against the Authorized / KJV before reporting an error in a link. A form at the bottom of the generated scripture page allows the context (number of lines around the desired verse) to be increased if needed. If frame support is available, the scripture references will be served in a separate frame. Otherwise, you may have to resize the resulting scripture window and reference window to allow parallel displays of reference and scripture without overlap.

This method of topic and verse display is very fast, with the possible exception of some very large topics such as God or Jesus Christ.

If you desire to view the complete reference document, start at the miscellaneous information link and use the next / previous section links at the top and bottom of each document to move through the document rather than using the provided topical index.

A search engine form at the bottom of the reference work pages allows the user to search for topics as desired. The Topical Bibles and Bible Dictionary form an integrated search area. Matthew Henry's Commentary forms another.
